Annual Meeting of the Members of the Beckley & Area Community Benefit Society Limited (BACBS)
The first Annual Meeting of the Members of the Beckley & Area Community Benefit Society Limited (BACBS) will be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday 15th November 2017 in the Beckley Village Hall, Woodperry Road, Beckley.
Calling for volunteers to stand for election to the BACBS Management Committee
All of the current Management Committee members have, in our first year, been co-opted to the Committee rather than been elected. The rules now require us to stand down and, if we wish, seek election to the Committee. Of course, we would also welcome other members of our community volunteering to contribute to the management of the Society. We will therefore hold an election for the new Management Committee. The election will be held wholly online (with a backup postal option also being available) and the results will be announced at the Annual Members' Meeting. By the end of October, you will have received a further email with a link to the online voting facility (plus a backup postal option) by which to register your vote.
If you have just a few hours to spare each month to contribute to the work of the Society and our meetings (approximately one evening meeting each month) plus offering your expertise to help ensure the success of the Society, please do consider putting your name forward for election to the BACBS Management Committee.
If you are willing to stand, please email a short biography (max. 100 words by 21st October) that outlines your interest and any relevant expertise, and how this can help BACBS, to the Society's Secretary at email@example.com. The candidates’ names and biographies will be sent, together with a voting form, to all Members in time to gather votes and determine the election result for presentation at the Annual Meeting.
The Abingdon Arms - progress and future plans
After a momentous year in which we acquired the Abingdon Arms, completed essential maintenance of the fabric of the building, and of course appointed Aimee and her team as our first tenants, we are now well advanced in further plans to improve the building.
Our main project is to replace the current toilets to include the provision of accessible toilets for disabled users of the pub. Plans for this development will be on display at the Meeting and you may wish to come to the village hall at 7:00pm to view the plans before the main meeting starts.
Topics for discussion at the Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting will also provide an Open Forum in which topics can be raised by Members for discussion by the Meeting. If you have any topics that you wish to raise for discussion, please let the Society's Secretary know (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that these can be added to the meeting's agenda.
Finally, refreshments will be provided at the end of the Meeting!
