A Successful Day in the Churchyard
On Saturday October 14th, twenty-five Beckley villagers (plus two from Stanton St John and Andrew our Vicar) spent a very happy and busy day tidying up' the churchyard. It turned out to be an extremely successful community event which everyone enjoyed . A huge amount was achieved - cutting back ivy on the walls and some of the gravestones, removing elder and overhanging holly branches, clearing out the 'moat' around the church, cleaning the ringing-room in the tower, removing a lot of cobwebs from the windows, and more! Soup, bread, cake, tea and coffee was offered throughout the day. Many thanks to Chris Cox who brought his trailer for us to use for the debris, to Church Steward Gina Robson for organising, and to each and everyone who gave so generously of their time and talent!
