Dear All,

The proposed Main Modifications for the SODC Local Plan have been published.  These are changes Inspector Jonathan Bore wants to make to the Local Plan as a result of the submissions and evidence presented at the hearings in order to make the Plan ‘Sound’

Here is the Main Modifications document - https://www.southoxon.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2020/09/1-Main-Mods-Schedule-Sept-2020.pdf

Our concerns remain –

  • The loss of the Green Belt
  • The SSSI Sidlings Copse and College Pond
  • The Transport Infrastructure

On the last point the Inspector has suggested a ’low car-use scheme’ possibly based on Oxford’s ‘controlled parking zones’, which have not been assessed or shown to work outside a city or town centre.  This would promote ‘non-car modes of transport’, but have no alleviation for our already very overcrowded local roads at peak times or the ring road and Headington roundabout.  The 1,100 home development will have over 2,600 residents and all the neighbouring communities have 1 car + per household.  The financial viability of the site Land north of Bayswater Brook is questionable and doing away with a traffic alleviation scheme would reduce costs significantly.

We have gone through the Main Modification and listed some points you may wish to make.  Please find the document outlining these attached.

This is our last consultation on the Local Plan and our last opportunity to try to influence the outcome and what goes in the Inspector’s report, so we urge you to respond.

The deadline is the midnight Monday 2nd November 2020.

You can respond via the on-line survey found here - https://survey.southandvale.gov.uk/s/SouthLocalPlanMainMods/

Or by e-mail planning.policy@southoxon.gov.uk

or post to Freepost SOUTH AND VALE CONSULTATIONS (no stamp is needed and no further address is needed)

If responding by e-mail or post please use their form, which is available in Word or pdf formats from the SODC web site and asks for the same information as the on-line survey – Forms can be found here at the centre of the page - https://www.southoxon.gov.uk/south-oxfordshire-district-council/planning-and-development/local-plan-and-planning-policies/forthcoming-planning-policies/our-forthcoming-local-plan/   A pdf format copy is attached.

The responses are focused on the first of the four documents the Main Modifications.  The others don’t really affect us, but you are most welcome to read them and respond to them too.
